Upcoming Public Empowerment & Self-Defense Workshops

Below are the Empowerment Self-Defense classes schedule the remainder of 2024.  Register for any of these  Most workshops take place on Saturdays from 4:30 – 6:30 PM. Workshops for Kids are only 1 hour in duration (4:30-5:30)

Empowerment & self-defense workshops teach physical self-defense skills as well as communication strategies that allow participants to be and feel safer, stronger, and more self-confident in a variety of situations, making it less likely that they will be targeted for violence, and better able to resist violence if they are targeted.  Though these workshops make it less likely that someone will be the victim of violence, there is nothing anyone can do, say, think, feel, wear, believe, or any other action that makes it their fault if someone chooses to perpetrate (or attempt to perpetrate) violence against them.

NEW offering! Defense & Desire

This workshop is being rescheduled for January 2025.  Registration will open soon!

This 90-minute empowerment self-defense & wellness workshop (5:00 – 6:30 PM) will help adult people with vulvas get in touch with the ways their bodies can help them experience pleasure and protect them from harm.  Co-presented by sex coach & pleasure mentor Tazima Parris and empowerment self-defense instructor and 4th degree black belt Amy Jones, LSW, this short workshop will show you how to kick @ss and get some @ss, and have fun while doing it!  In addition to physical resistance skills and getting in touch with what feels good (we’ll keep activities PG during the workshop, but will be discussing sexuality), we’ll be working on communication skills to help you find your authentic “Yes!” AND your authentic “NO!”

This is a special pilot workshop, and registration is only $10.   Mature themes, adults 18+ only
