 Codes of Conduct for Adults, Teens, and Kids, and Complaints Policy

At Culture of Safety Dojo and Wellness Center, we take the safety and dignity of our students and participants seriously.  Our karate program is our most significant ongoing program, and as such it is important to us (and to Jin Sei Ryu Karate-Do International) that we have  robust student protection mechanisms, including Codes of Conduct and well-articulated Complaints Procedures.  Karate is well-known for observing a strict hierarchy.  This is in many ways immensely helpful, but it does create vulnerabilities and susceptibilities to destructive and even abusive behavior.  The policies and codes of conduct listed below articulate our expectations of ourselves and our students.

Student Protection Officers

Student Protection Officers are members of our community who have volunteered to serve as advocates, sounding boards, and allies to any student (or parent of a student) who has a complaint against a fellow student or instructor and does not feel comfortable reaching out to the head instructors directly.  The role of the Student Protection Officer is explained here (Spanish version).
